THE POMPIDOU CENTRE IN PARIS

The Pompidou Centre is one of my favorite places I've ever been to. It's the largest modern art museum in Europe, and I could spend hours and hours there. When we were visting Paris this past May, I knew I had to see it again. I have been sharing photos from our trip all summer, and this is one of the last ones. I've been saving it because I love this place so much.

The many floors of permanent collections, temporary works, and exhibits feel endless (to me in a good way, to my dad in a bad way), and it's just a fun building to be in. If you look at a picture of the whole front of the museum, you can see the tube-like tunnel where the escalator is - you go up through that tunnel to get from floor to floor - and the view is so cool.

Another thing I really love about it is, on the floors that have temporary collections, you don't have any idea what you are going to walk into at the next room. There's always some huge installations, some that take up a whole room - and I just love being surprised like that. I guess another reason I love this place so much, is that when my dad and I first visited Paris in May 2010, it was on my list of places to go that I had worked on for a while before the trip. And it was so much more amazing than I thought it would be. Whenever I think about this museum, I feel how excited I was seeing all of it for the first time, but also it sparked a broader level of excitement because it made me realize that unimaginably cool and interesting and special places like it just exist.
