MADRID PART II

1// Spanish costume dolls
2// balconies with tiles underneath
3// traditional children's outfits
4// stamp collector shop
5// doors with many layers
6// creepy grafitti
7// silk scarf painting studio

Here are a few more shots from our quick stay in Madrid this past May. My favorite of these seven is the last. My dad and I were just wandering around in the late afternoon. We looked into a shop window filled with beautiful painted silk scarves and went inside. The owner and artist of the shop was a tiny, old woman who was thrilled when we showed an interest in her scarves. As best as she could in her limited English and our limited Spanish, she explained her process for painting different patterns and showed us her set-up in the back where the worked. I absolutely loved seeing the scarves stretched across theses and watching her paint a few strokes while she talked. It's a nice little memory.

  1. My sister and I visited Madrid a couple of years ago and I loved it! Though the most amazing part of our trip was experiencing fried squid sandwiches which we consumed far to many of. I'm so envious you got to see the inner working of a silk-scarf shop and that the owner/artist was the one to show you around. A nice memory indeed.

  2. These are nice pictures. I'm thinking about sharing my trips from 2012 as well since well, I don't want them to disappear and I didn't blog back then so... :) It's a great idea!

  3. cute little back story, those scarves are quite beautiful. One of the things I love about visiting other countries is the graffiti - it's all so different wherever you go!
p.s sorry I haven't got round to sending you a pic for my button yet it's most definitely on my list!
