NEW YORK WEEKEND PART 1

Late last night we got back from our long weekend in New York City. Our one-year anniversary is July 31, but due to Douglas's crazy demanding schedule, we decided to take his trip whenever we could to celebrate a little early. We've taken several day trips together over the past few years, but this one was our first trip together that was bigger. I loved every minute of it.

We took a train from Albany into the city. We went to see the NBC bulding and the Lego store. We got lost. We talked in a New York accent a lot. We went to a stand-up comedy club and then saw two comedians from the show at breakfast the next morning. We rode in a taxi (that Douglas hailed!). We rode in a bike taxi and crossed our fingers. We walked around Time Square at night for a long time. We loved seeing how different the different parts of the city are. We realized that fabric stores in the fashion district are big. We saw the Blue Man Group. We went to the Museum of Modern Art and were amazed. We people watched. We talked about how fast this first year of marriage went and how it's been the best. We bought way too much candy at Dylan's Candy Bar. We ate fried pizza for the first time. We came across a street festival on Madison Avenue and got caught up there for hours. We got our caricature done by a tiny little lady on the street. Then we laughed at it a lot. We left the city late Sunday night and thought about how weird it is that we live three hours away from all of this now.

  1. Hi. I'm moving to NYC in two weeks. This post made me pee my pants a little bit with further excitement, so thank you for that :)

Sounds like the two of you have a fun-packed weekend. Happy Anniversary and how rad that you only live three hours away. You can do it all over again soon!

Yes! It's an ice cream truck. So cute. Also okay let's talk fried pizza. It wasn't as ridiculous as we thought it was going to be. The dough is lightly fried for like 30 seconds before the rest of the pizza is made. So the crust ends up crispy and a little more flavorful. It was delicious. But before that we totally thought it was gonna be like a pizza...just totally battered and fried to hell. Pleasantly surprised!
