I hadn't been to many estate sales recently and had some luck starting back with them this past weekend. I fell in love with this chair the second I saw it and knew it was my new sewing chair (I was using an old folding chair). It has a bit of extra character because one of the feet was missing and the woman at working the sale tore the bottom off a cane for me to stop it from wobbling. This was after she tried to disassemble several other, less obvious objects for a solution.
When I first started looking at sales for the weekend, one listed "1000s of yards fabric" and, from that, I kind of pictured rolls and rolls of really bad upholstery fabric. Turns out it was a lady who had built up a huge collection of old fabrics in a storage shed out back. There was a lot to dig through. But I found some stuff I really love, some nice solids, and some linen for screen printing. Did you have any thrifty adventures this weekend?
Gorgeous chair, love the the unusual back!
ReplyDeleteAwesome catch with the 'shed full of fabric' lady ^.^ I think I have the 5th fabric up from the bottom... the one with all the colors and leaves and whatnot. I just have no idea what to make with it. Maybe it'll get put in a blanket or made into a lining. *shrug*
ReplyDeleteI love all the fabrics your got. So many good ones.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, that cane part on the foot of the chair makes me think the chair has a tiny little leg cast. Aw. Great finds, as usual!
ReplyDeletethat chair!! So jealous. Awesome find. :)
ReplyDeletethat chair is such a great find! and i always enjoy little peeks into your studio. i can't wait to see what neat things you make from all that fabric. this weekend i was at a local barn sale for work and i found some really great vintage canisters (finally!) and a stool for my studio— yay for our new seating!
ReplyDeleteThat chair is AMAZING. What a find. And your fabric collection is wonderful - I want a skirt from the blue stripes
