Adirondack Balloon Festival a few weeks before we left New York. We stayed up all night so we could leave at 4:30 in the morning to miss all the traffic. The balloons took off around 6:30, so we had an hour and a half to walk around the fields, shivering, arms linked, drinking hot chocolate, watching the people gather. It really feels like this happened few days ago, but also it feels like way longer than it actually has been. A lot of things have happened in between then and now.
As it got closer to sunrise, the crews started rolling out the balloons, and before we knew it the field was full. One by one they started to inflate into big domes out the ground and then stand upright. Then they just started taking off, and there was so much to look at everywhere.
We didn't expect to be able to be so close to the balloons, standing right next to them the whole time, walking around in between them. It was one of the most incredible things I have ever seen.
I have a good many more pictures to share on another day.
